Wed 22 Feb: Collecting Contemporary Art from Africa

Asa Maria Bjornsdottir, art specialist and Bob Lee, independent art adviser and collector explore key trends in contemporary African art production along with some examples of the exciting and diverse work currently being produced by African artists.

Wed 7 March: Africa 2020 - What Possible Future?

What is it to be known about Africa, about its diversity and its complexity? Serge Borg, Director at Baobab Development, explores the misconceptions, business risks and opportunities associated to to the continent where he was born. The discussion closes on a reading by poet and actor Kenneth Eyo.

Artist Book Release

We are delighted to announce the release of the first artist book in English by Nelio Sonego, composed around a text by City poet B H Fraser. The product of a poetry workshop held in May by m{us}e, where poets were invited to react to Nelio's paintings, this hand made book features the poem '...unlimited and invisible...' illustrated with two unique drawings. For sale, it is available in an edition of 9 exemplars.

The book will be launched on Wednesday 14th September at Eight, in the presence of the two artists.

Revolving around Simon Tyszko's exhibition Replay, the evening closely dovetails art and food, creating a unique and synthetic sensorial journey where one not only sees but also feels, smells, touches and gets a taste of the artist's works.


The evening is a collaboration between art club m{us}e, experiential designer Sarah Alabdulkareem and Eight's Head Chef Ilya Fattakhov.
